Weymouth Easter Hockey Festival 2012
Welcome to the 50th Weymouth Hockey Festival!

This year marks our 50th Easter Hockey Festival in Weymouth. Its kind of a big milestone and we're really pleased to have reached it and to have welcomed so many teams to us over the years.

Over the last 50 years the festival has changed and evolved but we think that the key ingrediants of teams enjoying playing hockey and socialising in a fun and friendly atmosphere have remained constant.

Over the years we're had many visiting teams from all over the country and from europe; this year especially we look forward to welcoming back many of those teams to celebrate our 50th festival as well as meeting some new visitors for the first time.

Whats happening this year?

Last year's festival was a huge success but we want this year to be even better still! This years festival takes place from 6th April to 9th April 2012

New!  As well as our usual mens and ladies tournaments running on the Friday & Saturday (with finals on Sunday), this year we are also offering a mixed tournament to run alongside the mens/ladies games. We had really good feedback about the 7-a-side half pitch format so we're sticking with it again this year.

Games are played on a mixture of grass and astroturf pitches and all pitches are on a single site at Redlands.

You can find out more about the outdoor hockey here.

As well as offering outdoor hockey (hopefully in the easter sunshine) we are the only festival that also runs an indoor tournament. This takes place in the sports hall at Redlands.

We run seperate indoor tournaments for Mens and Ladies (sorry no mixed indoor). Last year indoor hockey ran concurrently to the outdoor hockey but this lost some of the atmosphere and intensity in the hall so this year we're planning to run indoor on the Sunday & Monday.

We have big plans for our indoor tournament this year - you can read more on the Indoor Hockey page.

We provide entertainment each night, with parties on the Friday & Sunday and the legendary Park Street Shuffle on the Saturday night. More information on the weekend's entertainment here.

How much does it cost?

Our festival is one of the cheapest around (so you have more money to spend in the bar).

Entry costs just £20 per person as an all-in price for your hockey and your evening entertainment (but not your drinks, sorry!). We think this is easier and more transparent than charging seperately for entertainment once you get here.

The entry fee covers entry into the outdoor and/or indoor tournaments - if you enter the outdoor hockey you can play in the indoor for free and vice-versa or you can enter just the indoor or just the outdoor - its up to you, the cost is the same.

Obviously, if you have enough players you can enter more than 1 team.

Teams can sign-up and pay online via the website. Once you've entered your team you can add extra people at any point.

Where can I stay?

There are loads of hotels in Weymouth so you'll find something to suit all budgets. We also have a special deal for hockey teams arranged with the Fairhaven Hotel.

We are also pleased to offer camping on-site at Redlands. Last year was the first time we offered camping and it proved both popular and successful.

Camping is being run by Redlands Sports Hub and will cost £20 per person. For more information click here.

Theme for Friday Night
Uploaded 2012-02-24 by Andy

We've had a number of enquiries about the theme for the Friday night. Unsuprisingly this year's theme is "The Olympics". It’s a bit predictable but it offers loads of scope, the Gold/Silver/Bronze fits well with this being our Golden Jubilee year and since Weymouth is an official Olympic venue it would be rude not to.

Of course if you want do your own thing for fancy dress or not do anything at all, that’s ok too.

Sign-up problem with hotmail email addresses
Uploaded 2012-02-13 by Andy

It seems that a number of people have had problems signing up for the festival when using a hotmail email address. It seems that for some reason hotmail marks the confirmation email the website sends as spam and you never receive it and then can't confirm your account and log-in.

If you don't receive an email within a few minutes please contact us and we'll sort it out for you. So far this only seems to be affecting hotmail addresses.
